Teach English in Italy
EU citizenship is your ticket to being a TESOL teacher in Italy. Like in most EU countries, teaching English in Italy can be a financial balancing act, unless you supplement your income by privately tutoring students, or you get a job at a state school. If you are a US citizen, you will probably be freelancing with private schools. Many teachers have made this work; however, due to the difficulties inherent in being a non-EU citizen, we only guarantee job placement in Italy for EU citizens. Having said that, few places offer the Mediterranean climate, the rich history, the food and the natural beauty of Italy, so for many teachers, there is no substitute.
