Teach English in South Korea
50 years ago, South Korea was a war-torn, impoverished nation picking itself up out of the conflict with the North that had left millions dead and cities in ruins. Today, South Korea is a world economic power, a textbook example of what can be done with determination and sheer force of will. In many ways, South Korea is one of the best places to be a TESOL teacher. The benefits are great, including airfare, housing and usually medical benefits as well. The pay is also the best in the industry for beginning TESOL teachers, and it's a great place to save money or pay down bills. In addition, Korean students of all ages are enthusiastic about learning English. They know from an early age that superior English ability translates into superior career opportunities. Although life here revolves around work and family, a foreigner teaching English can enjoy the glowing metropolitan nightlife of Seoul, hiking in the many mountain ranges (the national pastime), or maybe even appear in a TV commercial (yes, this really happened to one of our teachers!). So, if working hard and playing hard sound like your cup of tea, then you will be at home in South Korea.
